I'm a Syracuse man, but I watch as much College Basketball as I can, especially Big East basketball. Today, the 'Cuse isn't playing, but we have a 12 noon matchup of two Top 10 teams out of the Big East. #2 Villanova at #8 Georgetown.
The energy level of a college basketball game can't be matched by an NBA game, I truly believe that. Right now the score with 6:47 left in the 2nd Half is Georgetown 78, 'Nova 66. The announcers are saying that only about 2/3 of the crowd showed up today because of the blizzard in D.C., but there is still a very lively crowd in D.C., and they seem to be helping Georgetown to make today 'Nova's first Big East Loss.
The first half proved to be a close game even though 'Nova was outplayed and outmatched from jump. Georgetown didn't break loose until 'Nova's head coach was called on a technical foul (that he was working on for about 15 minutes). Scottie Reynolds is really good, by the way. Just now, Chris Wright fouled out. With 5:16 left in the game and an 11 point Hoya lead, it will be interesting to see what happens. Being a 'Cuse-man, I have to be rooting for the Hoyas in this scenario. Big time matchups in the Big East, love it.
