REVIEW: UP, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions & The Social Network

It's a three-for.  Because I'm awesome?  Nah, I'm lazy.

Since the Oscars are this weekend, let's start the Up, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, and The Social Network trifecta review with The Social Network.

REVIEW: Valentine's Day

BuDaChick apparently recorded this movie a few weeks ago on HBO, and this morning she hit the play button.  I was in the vicinity.

This movie is one of those chick-flick ensembles, where they basically put everyone and anyone in a movie and see what happens.  Not just regular actors, like headliners.  You know, so it's distracting.

George Lopez plays the role of an extra, or a guest starring role for his 30 seconds of borderline coherent film.  Queen Latifah plays the role of the boss of one of the main-er characters.

In a nutshell, this movie was AWESOME!

REVIEW: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I hadn't seen this movie yet, and this past weekend I was able to catch Raiders, Last Crusade, and even took some time out of my Sunday to watch the lame Temple of Doom.  I figured I would watch, or at least DVR and watch at a later time, the newest installment of the Indiana Jones Series.

Common sense tells you that this movie has to be bad.  Raiders - awesome.  Temple - terrible.  Crusade - awesome.  Crystal skull - ???

I saw a good amount of it when it aired on USA at 8pm, but reserved most of my watching to the DVR playback some other time.  When it originally aired on Sunday night I probably saw about an hour, and then yesterday I probably watched another few minutes.  My initial reading was that this movie wasn't good.  I needed to finish it to give it the proper review.  I was way off.  This movie was terrible.

REVIEW: Toy Story 3, Inception, Avatar

Most recently I've seen Toy Story 3 and Inception in theaters, and Avatar was my most recent Netflix arrival.  Do you want to know what I think?  Geez, no need to be so blunt about it...

Toy Story 3 had the possibility to be really terrible, as does any sequel of any good movie.  Toy Story 2 was a good sequel.  It didn't overshadow the original, but it was right on par.  Toy Story 3 blew Toy Story 2 out of the water.  From front to back it was just a phenomenal movie.  An epic tale of child's play things.

REVIEW: Angels & Demons, Swingers, & SATC2

The two latest rentals on the Netflix queue were Angels & Demons and Swingers.  Both BuDa-picks.  Sex and the City 2 is the one movie I will see in the theater this year, and that was a BuDaChick-flick.

Let's start with Sex and the City 2.  Let me preface this with the fact that BuDaChick is a huge fan of the show, and that it is one of the chick shows she watches that I actually tolerate.  Fuck it.  I enjoy Sex and the City.  There I said it.  It's a good show.  Sex and the City The Movie was some of the worst piece of crap I've ever seen quite possibly ever.  The writers fucked so much up I can't even explain.  I just pretend that Steve didn't cheat on Miranda.

REVIEW: 17 Again

The latest Neflix installment was a BuDaChick-pick.  I never knew this, and she's never said so, but apparently she has a thing for Zac Efron.

After seeing this movie, no'mo, I don't blame her.

REVIEW: Up In The Air

Latest delivery from Netflix was one of the nominee's for Best Picture, and winner of the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay, Up in the Air.

I thought this was an enjoyable movie, but it was obvious why it didn't win best picture.  This movie is good but quite mediocre.

REVIEW: The Time Traveler's Wife

Guess what.  This was a BuDaChick pick.  Guess what else.  Rachel McAdams is attractive.

I wasn't very interested in seeing this to tell you the truth.  There was a solid chance I was going to have to miss the end of a Yankee game to watch this movie, so I was against it from the start.  As it turns out, I didn't.  Still I thought, "If I have to watch this, at least it's not a time-traveling-mailbox-movie."  But it was still going to suck, right?  First scene honestly got me with the hook.

REVIEW: Twilight

Latest movie that has been Netflix'd was a BuDaChick pick.  Twilight.  Yeesh.  I'm a fan of Harry Potter, so I had an open mind.  I'm into Science-Fantasy, so I said, why the hell not.

I tried.  But this movie sucked.  The acting was terrible, and the plot was non-existent.  Actually, there was a plot - just not enough to fill the 2 hour and 2 minute run time.  For those that don't know, I'm about to spoiler the whole retarded movie for you right here.

REVIEW: (500) Days of Summer AND Couples Retreat

The last two Netflix'd vid's that BuDaChick and I watched were (500) Days of Summer and Couples Retreat.  Spoiler Alert - one was really awesome, and one was really mediocre.

REVIEW: Star Trek (2009)

My latest Netflix'd movie was the 2009 installment of Star Trek.  I wouldn't classify myself as a Trekkie, and although I'm familiar with the Star Trek series, most of my knowledge of Star Trek comes from the movies with Bill Shatner, and from The Simpsons references.

One thing I really liked about this movie is that it is not a remake.  What the creators did in fact was create an alternate timeline of events the "new class" differs from the original stars, and at certain points actually overlap.

REVIEW: Inglourious Basterds

I don't go to the movies anymore.  Like, at all.  I just don't think it's worth it most of the time, and although I enjoy certain movies more in the theater, I find that the good movies are still good on the smaller screen, and the shitty ones still suck.  If it's a superhero movie, chances are I'm seeing it at the midnight showing when it first opens, but that's a different story.

I just Netflix'd Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, and unfortunately for me, I had heard great things about this movie.  I don't like hearing good things about movies that I want to be good because then the expectations are high, and chances are that the movie will not be able to live up to what it's been built up to be.

Did the Basterds live up to what I was expecting?

How 'Bout Somethin' Like Tha Matrix?!

Right now on AMC (which, oddly enough has become one of the better television channels out there - odd because it used to be all black and white movies, now the "Modern Classics" rock the shit) is The Matrix Reloaded.  The Matrix is one of my favorite movies.  It's got everything I want in a movie.  Keeps me guessing, just enough action, and I think it's a very excellent story.  To go from that movie, to the dance/sex scene in Reloaded is possibly one of the worst transitions ever.

I'm not prude, but 12+ minutes of dancing and simulated sex was retarded, and nothing that us Matrix fans want to see.  The whole "gathering" was retarded too.  I was watching both The Soprano's, and the beginning of Reloaded until the gathering began, and Morpheus yelling to the crowd is one of the worst things ever.

Oh Em Eff'in Gee - Legion Opens Today

I don't know what it is, but I have been absurdly intrigued by the trailers for this movie since I first saw them.  I'm 99.9% sure it was the little old lady that crawls up the wall and attacks people in a diner.  Like, what the fuck is this movie, and exactly how bad can it be.

Today is January 22, 2010, the movie Legion has opened across the nation, and the reviews and plot synopses have been released.  As expected, the reviews are terrible.  At the current moment, Rotten Tomatoes is rating this movie at a whopping 19%, and even the good reviews aren't very good at all.
