Okay everybody, here's the deal. I give you my heartfelt opinions and beliefs about who is doing well (and will continue to do well) and who will not produce for some time to come.
That's what DOING | DONE is all about. I'm going to try to change a few things about the format, and I also don't think it will be a weekly article. Seems a bit much. Would love some feedback and thoughts about what you think about the column - seriously. Going to try to be a bit shorter with my explanations and do it more like a list with some quick hits along the way.
Let's get into it! Who is Done, and who has entered Beast Mode? Find out... RIGHT NOW!
STILL DOING WORK
Brandon Marshall, WR, Denver Broncos
Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints
Kevin Smith, RB, Detroit Lions
Vincent Jackson, WR, San Diego Chargers
Steve Smith, WR, New York Giants
Quick Hits: Last week Brandon Marshall had 8 receptions and 2 touchdowns in an OT win to stay undefeated against the Patriots? Yeah, I like that BMarsh is on my list - The Frenchman, Pierre Thomas? The Bye sure as hell didn't hurt him... - Silent Bob, Kevin Smith, had 95 total yards against Pittsburgh this past week. To put that in perspective, Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans had 68 total yards in Week 1 - VJax, Vincent Jackson, same as the Frenchman... - The Good Steve Smith didn't manage a single touchdown this past week. Oh my god! Get him off the list! Calm down. Dude had 3 receptions for 70 yards while Eli Manning played in less than a half. He is still a beast.
JUST DOING WORK
Ronnie Brown, RB, Miami Dolphins
Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans
Peyton Manning, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Adrian Peterson, RB, Chicago Bears, er, I mean Minnesota Vikings
Quick Hits: In 2007 before he got hurt, Ronnie Brown was my #1 draft pick for my 2008 fantasy team. He got hurt, and wasn't the same last year. Dolphins have the #1 running offense in the game with Ricky Williams and Ronnie, and Ronnie has proven he's the star - Andre Johnson is a high end wide receiver: 6-3, 225 lbs., dude is a beast and has proven as much this year - Peyton Manning has been battling through injuries the past 2 and a half years, he has been in the upper echelon of quarterbacks since he joined the league, and has 5 straight games of over 300 yards passing. Yeah, I think he qualifies, and I don't see him slowing down anytime soon - Adrian Peterson's best game this year was in Week 1, but I think it's just the way he plays that is so damn impressive. He's Doing Work until otherwise informed.
'Bout to be DOING WORK
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB, New York Giants
Ray Rice, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Cedric Benson, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Matt Schaub, QB, Houston Texans
Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons
Donovan McNabb, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Dwayne Bowe, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Chad Ochocinco, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Quicker Hits: While BJake couldn't get it done at the goaline, Ahmad did AND THEN SOME - Ray Rice has Willis as a vulture and still shines - Cedric Benson has established himself as a legitimate fantasy option, but don't expect him to stay here - Matt Schaub is playing out of his mind - Mendenhall is like a healthier Willie Parker, but good - DNabb has had two monster games this year, and I don't think he slows down, love the 'Cuse Alum - Dwayne Bowe is a monster on a bad team - Chad Ochocinco is performing with the pressure of the media
That's all for the people on notice for being in, just entering, or almost getting to the elusive, BEAST MODE!
STILL DONE WORKING
Willie Parker, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Willis McGahee, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Jake Delhomme, QB, Carolina Panthers
Fred Taylor, RB, New England Patriots
Quick Hits: Willie Parker is supposedly coming back this week, but I still think he'll be the less effective back - No injury, 1 carry for -2 yards, and 1 reception for 4 yards. Yes, I think I'm right in saying Willis McGahee is no longer effective. In essence, DONE - Jake Delhomme had 64% completions for 181 yards versus the Zorn-skins - Fred Taylor is still injured and I still think Sammy Morris is the best back in New England. Who knows how the hell Billy Boy will use his players though
NO LONGER DONE WORKING
Jamal Lewis, RB, Cleveland Browns
Quickest Hit: There is no way Jamal continues to produce with 117 yards per game, but unfortunately I can't keep him on the damn DONE list when he does that. Fucking asshole. I expect him to be back very shortly...
JUST DONE WORKING
JaMarcus Russell, QB, Oakland Raiders
LaDanian Tomlinson, RB, San Diego Chargers
Larry Johnson, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Joseph Addai, RB, Indianapolis Colts
Quick Hits: JaMarcus has a stupid name and bounces balls to his receivers - LDT is done, and has been done for some time. League's quiet little secret - Grand MaMa is in the same boat. Dudes done, just traded him away in one league, siick - Joseph Addai was only good by association, now he's lost a step or three. He has over 50 yards rushing only once this year, and his value is mainly as Peyton Manning's go-to receiver. Seriously. Dallas Clark, 35, Reggie Wayne, 32, Addai, 26. 26 is both his age, and receptions (3rd on the Colts) and his production is still low. DONE
'Bout to be DONE WORKING
Darren McFadden, RB, Oakland Raiders
Steve Smith, WR, Carolina Panthers
Derek Anderson, QB, Cleveland Browns
Brian Westbrook, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Clinton Portis, RB, Washington Redskins
Reggie Bush, RB, New Orleans Saints
Roy E. Williams, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Not-So-Quick Hits: McFadden is in his sophomore year and still ineffective. True, his teams terrible, but so what - the, now, Other Steve Smith has talent, and he's crazy talented, but Delhomme's his QB... - DA should probably be in the done column. 2 for 17 last week. Against Buffalo! WTF! - Westbrook is a great talent, but I'm totally convinced he will be more ineffective over the long haul due to injury, until he's just another derelict running back - Clinton Portis came over to the 'Skins in a Champ Bailey trade a few years ago. The 'Skins still haven't put together a solid team. One touchdown this year, and his top performances were against Tampa Bay and St. Louis. Others were lack-luster. DONE - Hard to believe this is the same Reggie Bush from USC. It's got to be Kim Kardashian fucking with his head, but he's had plenty of time to establish himself within the Saints organization, but it's widely accepted that Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas share the carries and Reggie is a WR/Punt Return option, NOT a running back - Overshadowed in Detroit by Calvin Johnson, and now overshadowed by Patrick Crayton and rookie Miles Austin, RoyE needs to do some work to be considered even a #1 WR. Yikes.
That's all I got peeps. Hit me up with your questions, comments, queries, and furious rage-like beliefs. Please let me know if I'm the only fan of this article, because if I am, I should probably stop. PEACE!
