MNF Graphics

So I'm watching Monday Night Football this evening - Jets versus Dolphins - and I'm noticing that ESPN has a schnazzy little graphic for the first down/line of scrimmage marker.  Most television networks have a standard yellow as the first down line, and then have a standard blue, or some dull color, to mark the line of scrimmage.

Watching this game I'm noticing that ESPN doesn't subscribe to this standard.  What initially prompted me to begin this rant was that while Miami had the ball, the line of scrimmage was an orange-ish color, and the first down marker (as typical) was a variety of yellow/gold.  This is rubbish.  When you can't both, they individually look like first down locators.  Stupid.

Then Miami punts to the Jets, and I notice that the Jets have a GREEN line as their line of scrimmage.  Okay.  Now I follow.  Some monkey took the time to think this up, and coordinate team colors, and make this retarded non-standard graphic.  Why?  Because it's ESPN and it's Monday Night Football.  NBC has the better deal on Sunday Night - they can decide up to two weeks in advance which games they want to air on Sunday night (later in the season for the "Flex" games).  I think this is stupid an unnecessary.  Let's keep it the same on each side of the ball.  I think it should be a 50% grey.  Therefore it is associative of no specific team (Raiders are Silver and Black, Falcons are Red and Black), and it's clear what's what.  I kept thinking Fasano was getting first downs for 3 yard dumps each time.  Retarded.

SIDE NOTE:  Braylon Edwards did not catch one pass for 8 yards.  It's been something like 70 yards and he has more than half the teams targets thus far.  Yeah.  That's pretty good.  Regardless of how many touches he gets, he will certainly draw double coverage from here on out.  That can only help the other weapons and targets on the team.  Conversely, Jericho Cotchery has one catch for 4 yards to this point - it's obvious that his fantasy value has significantly decreased.  Now to the Miami side - it's nice to see Ted Ginn Jr. get a big pass, maybe he can get something going with Chad Henne.  Also, Ronnie Brown looks as good as ever, and Ricky Williams is no slouch.  This team obviously is going to feature the run, but against the Jets (supposedly) amazing defense, and young quarterback Henne, you'd expect a slight decrease in production.  Nuh-ah.  This running game is legit - how is this team 1-3 (prior to tonight, outcome not yet determined).
