NFL Week 8 BuDa Pick'Em!

Kind of an upsetting week in football for me last week - a few calls seemed really great early, then faded away into a crapfest with me coming out as the loser.  Also, I had the lowest fantasy points for 2 of my football leagues (I'm only in 2 football leagues - yeesh!)  How'd we do in Week 7?

7-5-1; 7-6

Seemingly getting better at gambling.  I ended up pushing the '9ers-Texans.  Oh well.  See the full Pick'Em for last week here (Week 7).  Let's do it for Week 8 - as always, BOLD teams are home teams, and all straight up picks are gut calls.  Let's do this chums!

Not sure why, but I'm not seeing a Sunday Night game.  Seems odd, but maybe that's part of the scheduling - NBC got two games in Week 1 for Thursday and Sunday Night, so maybe this is planned out this way.  Who knows.  I'm seeing that there are no Sunday Night games for Weeks 8 & 17, see here.  Leave a comment if you can find any information regarding this - thanks.  Here we go...

1:00PM/ET

Jets (-3.5) OVER Dolphins; Jets (+0) OVER Dolphins
The leading receiver for the Dolphins is Ted Ginn Jr. with 211 yards - he is also on his way to being benched.  It's going to be all Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams if the Dolphins are going to win.  I expect a similar dose of T.Jones and S.Greene on the Jets end - can't trust Dirty Sanchez just yet...

Ravens (-3.5) OVER Broncos; Ravens (+0) OVER Broncos
I just think they need to lose sometime, and this Ravens team is good.  I really don't know how this ends up, but it will be exciting to watch (not really because the Giants AND Jets play at 1:00PM..., it'll be nice to get updates...)

Texans (-3.5) OVER Bills; Texans (+0) OVER Bills
I actually think this can be close, but the way the Texans have been playing lately I have to take the over.  I could see Houston imploding on themselves and the Bills pulling off the upset because their defense is better than you think, but I still have to take the surging Texans.

Browns (+13.5) OVER Bears; Bears (+0) OVER Browns
I just don't think the Bears can cover the spread.  Forte doesn't look good at all, Cutler has a lot of pressure on him, the Browns have nothing to lose.  You can't count out an NFL team with nothing to lose.  Seriously, if the Browns cut their players they're doing them favors...

Seahawks (+9.5) OVER Cowboys; Seahawks (+0) OVER Cowboys
Still don't like America's team.  Roy E. Williams is playing like a 3rd string wide receiver.  The Seahawks defense is playing like they were supposed to last year and Hasslebeck doesn't seem as hurt from his broken rib as I was expecting him to be - he looks prett-ay, prett-ay good.  Road side upset!

Rams (+4) OVER Lions; Lions (+0) OVER Rams
Detroits defense agains the run isn't very good, so I expect a heavy dose of Stephen Jackson - beyond that the Rams have nothing.  This matchup is interesting simply because both teams are so bad it hurts when I laugh at them.  Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford are still injured, and I don't think the rookie QB plays.  This is the battle of 2 of bottom 5 teams this year.  It's going to be forgettable!

49ers (+12) OVER Colts; Colts (+0) OVER 49ers
I like this '9ers team, I really do.  I like Mike Singletary a lot.  I'm not a big Christian nut or anything, but I like his message that he brings to the team and the team is totally buying into it.  Last year Vernon Davis was benched for acting out and what Mike believed was unsportsmanlike conduct, or conduct detrimental to his team.  The balls on that guy!  Now Davis is an offensive Captain and has been playing out of his mind.  That said, the Colts look as good as they ever have.  It's like Peyton Manning made a deal with the devil in the off-season to play like he did 5-10 years ago.  This team is freaky good.

Giants (+1.5) OVER Eagles; Giants (+0) OVER Eagles
This is a big game for the GMeN.  The Eagles are looking good, and the Giants are reeling.  If they don't right the ship this week, they can't have anymore slip up's the rest of the way - I say the Giants win, and then we have another few slip up's along the way to the playoffs.  It's like 2007 all over again.  Just when you're impressed the Giants shoot themselves in the foot.  Just when you think they're dead, they rise from their own crap.  Yeah, that's right, crap.  Their whatever a Phoenix is but instead of ashes it's crap.

4:00PM/ET

Titans (-3) OVER Jaguars; Titans (+0) OVER Jaguars
The losing streak has to stop sometime - this team isn't THAT bad.  The Jaguars aren't very good either.  Jack Del Rio has some how managed to dodge any major stories about his job security, but I'm sure they'll start up again after this weeks pwnageUber pwns.

Raiders (+17) OVER Chargers; Chargers (+0) OVER Raiders
The Chargers must have a terrible schedule.  They don't look very good and they're 3-3, and now they're playing the Raiders.  LDT is their rushing leader with 211 yards.  That's an average of 35 ypg.  I know he missed a game and a half, but still, he's done.  Also, Phil Rivers will somehow manage to throw 2 picks to Nnamdi Asomugha - he is literally the only good person on the Raider defense and Rivers will get picked by him twice because he's an idiot who throws like Johnny Damon.

Cardinals (-9) OVER Panthers; Cardinals (+0) OVER Panthers
Chris Beanie Wells seems to be coming into his own and is a legitimate weapon for the Cardinals.  They haven't had a very good running game the past few years, so it will be interesting to see how this pans out.  Yeah, the Panthers stink.

Packers (-3) OVER Vikings; Packers (+0) OVER Vikings
I hope Old Man River has been taking his osteoporosis pills - he's going to need all the fortitude he can get.  There is no way the Vikings win this weekend.  None whatsoever.  I know they're coming off loss #1, but who cares.  The Pack wants revenge and Favre is going to get very personal insults.  The only light at the end of the Minnesota tunnel is All Day Adrian Peterson - dudes a beast.  Either way this goes down, I think it's a blowout - well, an 8+ victory for either side, and I think it's the Pack.

8:30PM/ET

Falcons (+10) OVER Saints; Falcons (+0) OVER Saints
I have to keep doing it, you know I do.  I do think that the Saints will not cover the spread, but I'm only going against them due to my stubborness that I set up a few weeks ago.  The Falcons defense just doesn't compare to the Saints, and their offense doesn't seem as impressive either.  I think it's a shootout.  C'mon Hotlanta!
