A few quick notes on this Thursday afternoon for the National Football League - as always, look for my weekly Pick'Em sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. I am going to try posting the picks on Tuesday or Wednesday night for the rest of the season, but I had some personal things to take care of in the middle of this week.
Not sure if you saw these, so I'm hitting you with it now...
Big Ben Gets Phantom Sack
Instead of a run for -1 yards, Ben now gets a sack against him, NOW SEE HERE! Is this a testament to how bad the Steelers O-Line has been throughout his career or just how bad Big Ben is at both riding motorcycles and staying in the protective bubble of the pocket?
N'Orleans FB Heath Evans Dunzo
Knee ligaments?! Who needs knee ligaments?! EXTRA EXTRA, I'm curious to see how a new fullback will fit into this proflific offense. Heath Evans proved to be a great option of out the backfield for Drew Brees and the Saints running game has been banging on all cylinders - the question is how much of that will be affected by the loss of Evans? I think the running game suffers, as will some pass protection, and Brees loses an option to dump the ball to. Keep an eye on this.
A Browns BOCES-Boycott
Check this out. These Cleveland-inians are real morons. If they wanted to send a real message, they should just not show up at all. These stadiums make god knows how much on concessions. That would put a dent in the owners pocket big time. Yeah, skip the first 10 minutes of the game - you idiots. This has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard, other than this new franchise calling itself the Browns...
Grand-MaMa v2.0 Out Because Of "Slurs"
SEE HERE! By slurs of course I mean his terrible play of late. It's perfect really. This guy tore it up a few years ago, and now he's been totally deflated - good thing he's intelligent (judging by his Tweets). At least he's got that to fall back on.
Highest Paid Backup Back Under Center
That's right, Vince Young is back. It only took six straight losses to get the manic depressive Madden-star back in the starting role. Awesome. I just hope he's on some sort of suicide watch because he might just go off the deep end when he throws an interception. Seriously, what's wrong with this guy? Kerry Collins, who wasn't good enough to start for the Oakland Raiders a few years ago has been the starting QB for this ball club for over a year. Oakland is terrible. Vince Young has made HOW much money? C'mon! C'MON!! Of course he wasn't going to ride pine forever, he's the $54M-man ($26.5M guaranteed). But seriously, something is wrong with him. You know how everybody jokes about Dave Chapelle going off the deep end and going to Africa? How does this not get more play than that?! Young almost retired from football, and was supposedly suicidal, although he claims he wasn't - just upset driving around with no purpose and a gun in the car is apparently something he labels as "confusion". He's got to look good otherwise he may be forced into retirement.
Delhomme wins the battle of who could care less
Jake Delhomme remains the Quarterback for the Carolina Panthers thanks to a great and fantastic rule, and labeled the two greatest words according to Homer Simpson: DE-FAULT!! DE-FAULT!! DE-FAULT!!
